5mm Water-clear Phototransistor

USD $0.45

This 5mm Water-clear Phototransistor will pick up visible and infrared light and conduct current. When light reaches this high sensitive/fast response time component it's much like current reaching the base of a transistor which allows current to flow from collector to emitter.

DESCRIPTION

Because the lens of these phototransistors is clear they are sensitive to both visible and infrared light. Unlike a photodiode, phototransistors do not produce electricity but act more like a switch when light is applied, allowing current to flow through them from collector to emitter. If you are looking for a photodiode we have one available here.

The phototransistor can be used to detect visible light but can also be used with our IR-LED to form a beam breaking spy projects or to detect close range reflections bouncing off a surface.

The short lead (flat side) of the phototransistor is the collector side and the long lead is the emitter.
