Western Canadian Robot Games 2005!

Well, we had a fun time at this year's Western Canadian Robot Games! Especially since Solarbotics' own Grant McKee won advanced minisumo with "Ender's Wraith", and although he also placed 2nd with "S.S. Solo" (but wasn't legally able to win 2 spots), the third place bump up went to...me! Dave Hrynkiw, with 2Strong2Bad!
Besides the competition, we had a good time talking directly with our customers, and at the Solarbotics Barbeque feeding them large quantities of BBQ food and suitable beverages.
The actual event was pretty well run and attended, but I personally missed being in the well-lit SAIT "Heart" building where the event had been the last few years. The bottles of "Solarbotics" ice-water were well used and appreciated in the warmer Symposium room!

Circuit: L293D Mini-Sumo
This circuit is used to create a simple "edgebot" sumo robot. Being an edgebot refers that it will repeat the same backup/turn/go forward action when it's single edge sensor detects the edge of the ring. This version of the circuit is quite simple, and always turns the same way.
BEP Application: Turbot
The Turbot is a member of the Scophthalmidae family of flatfish and is almost completely circular. Turbot is often found partially buried in the seabed in sand, gravel, rocks and sediment. Its fat content varies, but it usually contains roughly 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 100g fillet. Barring advances in genetic engineering, we will not be building that kind of Turbot. However, this kind of Turbot can be built with a soldering iron.
