It's cool. Well, not quite. But it's smoking. Umm, that's not right, either. It's anti-smoking. Whoever redesigned their 493 smoke absorber did a pretty good job - it's much better than it was before! And Hakko even posted a cool video showing how good it is (sorry, can't embed the video here).

Being April in Calgary, it should come as no surprise to any of you that yesterday we had a lovely blizzard which melted and froze, coating everything in a delicious layer of ice. This, of course, is somehow connected to the fact that Solarbotics El Presidante, Dave, is currently in Las Vegas where it is most certainly not snowing. His excuse is that he's there for a pick-and-palace conference. We think he used voodoo witchcraft to escape the ugly weather while the rest of us had to stay and suffer.
Anyways.
We have a few small odds and ends for you to check out this weekend.

BEP Application: Pummer
The following instructions detail how to build a simple pummer using a BC2 (Bicore) BEP (Bicore Experimenter PCB). A pummer is a solar powered self activating LED flasher. The difference between a pummer and a BLFNAR (blinky light for no apparent reason) is that a pummer has a soft turn off, which means that it turns on fast, but slowly fades away.
