Now that the season of mass gift giving is (temporarily) over, publishing the details on this special gift for a wedding anniversary will not ruin a surprise. So I figured I'd share this personal project that uses simple but smart electronics.
Solarbotics has been a regular at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo for quite a few years now. Throughout the years we've shown off multiple projects that we created ourselves and in collaboration with some brilliant costume and prop designers. Here is a recap of the most impressive projects.
We are always happy to assist people doing something outstandingly elaborate, especially with the use of our parts. That is how we found out about the Iron Man by Phillip Vatour, which was featured at the Comic Expo 2016. It instantly became a center point for photo ops and tech related conversations.
Rainbow Brite was an ambitious and intensely prismatic cosplay build done by Lyn Janelle and Dan Damron of Solarbotics that probably can compare in brightness only to Angela Dale's Chameleon Cocktail Dress.
By far the largest project in scale was Shannon Chappell's Golem. Towering up more than 3.5 meters (12'), equipped with articulated weapons and glowing with repurposed LEDs it was an unbeatable showstopper. See more specs and details about it here.
Stay tuned for more info and insights from previous and upcoming Expos!
Weekend passes often sell out, so grab your TICKETS now, while you still can!

Browsing around, I found another link regarding Mark Tilden & WowWee. From the website "AllNerdReview.com" (if that doesn't describe a roboticist...) comes article about a their visit to the New York Toy Fair (ok, so my web-browsing is a bit old). Enjoy... http://www.allnerdreview.com/TOYFAIR05/TF13.htm
The Solarbotics Arduino / Freeduino Enclosure - That's what it is, and that's what it does! We love our laser, and part of the job is making things that make our job easier. We're finding enclosing our Arduino projects makes them... well, more survivable. Here's our first release of the S.A.F.E., with more variations coming!
