The Many Faces of SAFE

The SAFE (Solarbotics Arduino Freeduino Enclosure) is a marvelous contraption of laser-cut acrylic that makes a complete enclosure for your Arduino project. It gives you a protective shell with enough room for a basic shield, with knock-outs for power and USB connection. It even has a power switch.

The big problem with Arduinos and Freeduinos, however, is that there are different versions. You could even go so far as to say that there are many versions of them.  And on top of the standard design/layout, there are boards like the Netduino/+, W&L Video Game Shield, Gameduino... And then there are other non Arduino devices, like the EZ-B and the PICAxe AXE401.

Solarbotics Arduino Freeduino EnclosureSo make sure that the SAFE is compatible with your DIY poison of choice, we're releasing a fistful of special face plates so that you can accommodate your favourite board. All our SAFEs and faceplates are available in Black, Clear, Dark Red and Transparent Bloooo (it's so cool, you have to say it that way). Here's our entire list of plates:

So go forth, friends, and apply your favourite face to the SAFE. But not your actual face. That'd be pretty awkward. And creepy. On second thought, that'd make a wicked Halloween costume. Go, do it. Just send us some pictures.

Absolute Beginner's Guilde to Building R...

It's a fun read, with some BEAM and not-so-BEAM projects, so if you're a raw newbie to robotics, this belongs on your bookshelf next to "Junkbots, Bugbots […]

Project Monday: LogoTurtleBot

Question: What ever happened to punch cards? Nobody really knows, but the world became a much much darker place without them. There was something undeniably magical about making a computer do your bidding through feeding it a piece of paper with a bunch of holes in it ("THE ULTIMATE POWER IS MINE! I CAN NOW […]
