SeeedStudio continues to impress us with he Grove line of Arduino/Pi/microcontroller compatible plug-in modules. Here's a fresh batch for today's product announcements.
We're involved with a couple of upcoming workshops featuring our Sumovore Mini-Sumo! (No local link yet, until it's officially on sale - sorry!)
The first one is at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Open House in Edmonton, Alberta. Besides a mini-sumo, full-size sumo, fire-fighting, and line-follower, they're also running two workshops, one on October 11, and again right before the open house on October 17, to be followed by a competition on the 18th. Check out the website details for registration information.
Solarbotics is also going to be workshop-happy with another Sumovore workshop at the Seattle Robothon. If you're interested, look for workshop and registration details here.
The last one is being hosted by our distributor, Bug'n'Bots, out in Toronto October 11 and 18th. Check out full details here.

Hey, looks like we are still being late with the Wednesday cool link posts. Our busy days at the office are filled with fighting the multiple misbehaving lasers (with other lasers), conquering fridges stuffed with food (curtsey of Solarbotics bosses) and withstanding the unexpectedly good weather (or so I've heard…). Today's link collection is random […]
We like to have some play time at Solarbotics, and the "Bare Bones Photovore" is the results of one of these play sessions. It's a very simple (amongst the simplest, we'll hazard to say) light-seeking solar-powered robot, and find it easy to build using the Bicore Experimenter's PCB.
I can't imagine why, but some people want to use these push pogo pins for other uses than robot appendages. Or battery contacts. Apparently they're really good for something called "JTAG applications" too, but I'll leave that up to you to decide. Scroll down to see them listed in the "New Items" column.
