Take a venerable 555 IC, stick it through a transmorgrifier process, and then you have this clever 555 kit, with the internals broken down to individual components.
Nothing deters the geeks at Evil Mad Scientists. One day, they're working on LED clocks, the next they are picking the internals out of a 555, and turning it into a... 555. But one you build yourself. A LARGE one!
The venerable "three fives" 555 IC is no doubt one of the classic chips that greybeards talk about fondly. "In mah day, all we had was a 555, a cup of really hot tea, and a towel. And that's how we invented the internet!"
Now EMSL has revamped the 555 into something that sits fully-functional, and proudly on a desk. It's not just a show-piece - it's a fully functional working upscaled version.
It's a great learning tool and geek conversation piece!
