If you don't have a hand growing out of the middle of your chest, you'll need one of these handy tools.
SparkFun took an excellent idea from Instructables, and turned it into a finished product. The only decent version of a "3rd-hand" we've seen has been jeweler's grade $60+ precision units used for silver soldering. This is a great budget version worthy of any bench-top.
Originally designed as cooling jets for machine tools, these arms have been turned into super-flexible helping hands, with alligator clip grabbers at the ends of the arms. But the arms are only half of the product. These are installed on a beefy aluminum base which will hold your project solidly while you perform your surgery.
Note: A portion of this sale is given to Ryan for inspiring the design with his Instructable.
