A highly customizable and easy to use PIR motion sensor from Sparkfun.

Description [Hide]

PIR sensors are found in many security systems, home automation, and overall proximity sensing applications. Sparkfun's OpenPIR brings a high level of customization to the PIR family by allowing you to set the sensitivity, trigger time, and pulse mode of the motion sensor so you can tailor-fit it to your application.

Everything we can find on this sensor breakout has been designed for ease of use. Trim pots have been used to adjust sensitivity and oscillator frequency, and there is a handy little switch to toggle between the two motion-detection modes. It comes with two different pitched connection points to support either breadboard compatible 0.1" pins, or a 4-pin JST Header. Additionally, OpenPIR has a reverse-entry green LED which duplicates the status of the OUT pin. Neat!

Features:

  • Voltage Supply Range: 3VDC to 5.75VDC
  • Maximum Sensing Range: 16 feet (configurable)
  • Standby Average Current: 80µA
  • Motion-Detected Average Current: 3mA (LED enabled)
  • Integrated 2−Stage Amplifier
  • Internal LDO to Drive Sensor
  • Single or Dual Pulse Detection
