This is a speed sensor, designed to check the rate of a motor.
DESCRIPTION
IR beam-breakers are commonly used as a "gate" detector. Either a bar, slot or other IR-blocking mechanical device breaks the beam between the infrared emitter and detector, and the resulting signal is cleaned up and presented as a nice digital signal. It's very quick too, and can be used to measure the pulses on slotted-disk tachometers.

- LM383 comparator IC cleans up noisy signals, and offers a robust 15mA logic-level drive output signal
