We're thinking of coming out and hitting the pavement of Robolympics in March. Thinking of coming? Perhaps we'll see you there!
So, as usual, we have some new product Friday goodness, but first we have a few questions for you to answer.
Do you live in, around, or near Vancouver? Do you like weird and fantastical projects? Do you consider yourself a DIY type of person? Do you own a Space Armadillo named Norm, that you can ride around the rings of Saturn?
If you answered 'yes' to some of those questions (except for the last one, because let's face it, you have far more awesome things to be doing than to keep reading this news post), then you should go and check out the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire that's taking place next weekend on June 23rd and 24th. Solarbotics will be in attendance as well, and it looks like we'll be showing off some of our standard bots, some new gadgets, and running a small Arduino/ARDX workshop. So if you're in the area, swing on by to say hello. We promise you won't be disappointed - last year's show was spectacular, and this one looks like it'll be even better.
Now, on with the show!

Here's a great booklet to accompany any new Freeduino purchase - "Getting Started with Arduino", written by Massimo Banzi (the co-founder of the Arduino Project). This title is based on his free-download introduction PDF, but takes is much farther, guiding new electronics enthusiasts into how to use the Arduino / Freeduino in a project. Also […]
Here's something to take a boo at a workshop by Tom Mair and a Grade-5 class. From his message to the BEAM mailing list: Last year I helped Mrs. Corbett's Grade 5 class build robots and we had a blast (see a review here http://www.aasland.com/hcrd.html). Well, this year we are doing it again. We're building […]
Because we use their great products while making robots, we've also carried Sherline products almost since we started Solarbotics. But the time has come to start cutting things that aren't core to our business, and the Sherline machine tools definitely take valuable time from open-source hardware hacking, lasering, and pick'n'placing. For 1 week only, we're […]
