It's really nice to receive pics of projects people have built out of our book "Junkbots". Here's one of the latest: the Pendulum by Christopher Pepe. Nice magnetic suspension mechanism! Read More...
So, as usual, we have some new product Friday goodness, but first we have a few questions for you to answer.
Do you live in, around, or near Vancouver? Do you like weird and fantastical projects? Do you consider yourself a DIY type of person? Do you own a Space Armadillo named Norm, that you can ride around the rings of Saturn?
If you answered 'yes' to some of those questions (except for the last one, because let's face it, you have far more awesome things to be doing than to keep reading this news post), then you should go and check out the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire that's taking place next weekend on June 23rd and 24th. Solarbotics will be in attendance as well, and it looks like we'll be showing off some of our standard bots, some new gadgets, and running a small Arduino/ARDX workshop. So if you're in the area, swing on by to say hello. We promise you won't be disappointed - last year's show was spectacular, and this one looks like it'll be even better.
Now, on with the show!
ATtiny85V $2.41 Yay! It's a low voltage version of the ATtiny85 that also offers 8kB of flash. |
|
PICAXE-08M2 IC (Surface Mount) $3.95 The surface mount version of our smallest, but prominent, PICAXE microcontroller. Very popular in education due to its low cost and small size, but also popular in a wide range of hobbyist projects. Small but perfectly formed! |
|
2-pin JST-PH Connector (2.0 mm Pitch) $0.95 Here is a 2-pin, 2mm pitch JST connector which is commonly used throughout the hobby industry, use it where a connector is missing or needed to mate to female connection. |
|
2oz Weatherproof Diffused Plastic Jar w/ Cap $1.95 It's a jar! Well it's not just any jar, it's a weatherproof diffused plastic jar to enclose your outdoor LED projects |
|
100x68x50mm Weatherproof Enclosure $5.50 This enclosure is a tough, waterproof design which is great for all kinds of outdoor electronics projects! |
And that about sums it all up. Have a good weekend everyone. Hopefully the rush-hour traffic will be kind to you. Unless, of course, you happen to have Norm on hand. In which case, you probably won't have a care in the world.

Well, it looks like we somehow managed to walk away from the Maker Faire unscathed. Going to the beach afterwards, though, has left us with some residual sunburns to suffer through. Thankfully, we got to return to some local weather that is wet, grey, and generally miserable. But enough of that! On with some neat-o […]
Good news, good news! We've been following the Oomlout system of learning Arduino since last February, and we've finally finished putting together our own Solarbotics Edition of the open-source ARDX Arduino Experimenter's Kit. Besides just working with the fine folks at Oomlout to make sure our edition meets their high standards, we've also been contributing […]
NEW YORK - February 12, 2001 - The WowWee Toy division of Hasbro, Inc. today introduced the first toy line to incorporate advanced "nervous network" technology. New B.I.O. Bugs (Bio-mechanical Integrated Organisms), the hit of last month's Hong Kong Toy Fair, are robotic bugs that can autonomously act by themselves, come and go as they please, identify friend or foe and have the ability to avoid or climb over obstacles in their path.
