Hakko FX-888 Soldering IronI wasn't very interested when the new Hakko FX-888 soldering iron showed up, but as I opened it and explored more, I got to thinking "Dang - this is a nice iron...".

It's small, heavy, made-o'-metal, and of Hakko quality. And it's better than the old 936 it replaces, in practically every regard. And it uses the same tips! Check it out - it's a nice iron. We've been carrying Hakko goods for a long time, and this unit keeps up the tradition of great quality.

We've also been playing a bit with our pick and place equipment and adapted the very cool Jimmie Roger's LoLShield (we carry the green and red kits) to a SMD add-on board. We're working toward making these in several colors. Stay tuned!

BEP Application: Bare Bones PhotoVore

We like to have some play time at Solarbotics, and the "Bare Bones Photovore" is the results of one of these play sessions. It's a very simple (amongst the simplest, we'll hazard to say) light-seeking solar-powered robot, and find it easy to build using the Bicore Experimenter's PCB.
