Maker Faire, Closed Mon. May 24th

Hey look, we're at Maker Faire!

Hey look, we're at the Solarbotics Office!

...

Hey look, we're like an  amoeba, splitting in half to be in two places at once.

Ok, here's the skinny -  Right now, most of our staff is US-bound to attend the previously mentioned MakerFaire in the San Mateo/Bay Area in California. If you happen to be near by this weekend (22nd and 23rd), be sure to swing by to say hello. And be sure to look around too, there'll be tons of neat stuff to see.

Back at the ranch (the Solarbotics ranch, that is), we're running on a bare-bones skeleton crew. We're still able to process and fill some orders, but there's a good chance there will be a 1-2 business day delay on some until most of the crew returns and we're back to full capacity. Due to the absence of our shipping staff, we are unable to process orders for either UPS or FedEx. It's also important to note that we will be closed on Monday, May 24th for Victoria Day.

So, a quick recap: Maker Faire - go to it. On Monday the 24th, we'll be closed. When open, Solarbotics core services (including telephone and email support, order processing, and package shipping) will be significantly limited. We will do the best we can, but can't make any guarantees until Wednesday of next week (the 26th) when we get back up to strength.

We apologize for the short notice, but the past few weeks have been rather crazy-go-nuts while we try to prepare for Maker. Thanks for your patience!

Heated Car Seat Teardown and Repair

Here's a little makeover of an inexpensive aftermarket car seat heating pad that stopped working. Evil Mad Scientist Inventory... Welcome ...

Earlier in January we had a very interesting discussion with the chief geeks at Evil Mad Scientist Labs. They've been doing similarly-unique DIY as Solarbotics for a good long time, but they had now found themselves in the position of shuttering their operation to take some lead rolls with Bantam Tools. This meant moving from […]

Robothon Success!

Congrats out to Grant, for bringing his "Ender's Wraith" to first place in the advanced mini-sumo category at last weekend's Seattle Robothon. We also picked up an award for "Most Unusual Robot" with our Turbot prototypes! Additional to that, a Solarbotics Sumovore ("Oops" by Kristina Miles) won the amateur mini-sumo category!
