Los Alamos BEAM Workshop

We're happy to announce that the 2001 Los Alamos BEAM Robotics Workshop is going ahead this May 3 to 6th! After much delay and threats of budget-cuts, funding has finally been secured. Thanks to Joe Vigal and Paul Argo of the Los Alamos National Laboratories for keeping this great event alive for this final year! It's questionable if the workshop will be resurrected next year, so if you are at all interested in coming out to this great BEAM event, this is most likely your last chance!

This year's event will again be at the Santa Fe Art Institute, in the 4300 square foot indoor studio. This is adjacent to a splendid outdoor courtyard with a large fountain (ideal for testing aquatics...). Santa Fe, New Mexico is a beautiful area, with lots of sunshine and splendid tourist attractions. That bit is for you to convince Mom/Dad/Wife/Husband that there'll be something to do for the non-robogeeks in the family.

We're told that the Santa Fe Art Institute is taking care of registrations, so you may want to contact them at (505) 424-5050 for details. We'll try to get updates as soon as possible.

New Product: Arduino WiFi Shield and Dis...

The lonely product in the long-time-ago previous product post has filed a complaint to the INPDL (International New Product Defendant League) against having to represent the Friday Product Post by itself for an entire month. We therefore had to comply by bringing in some new stock to switch out. So here's an Arduino WiFi Shield […]

New! Servo2 and RM1a motors

We've got in an inventory of Grand Wing Servo S03N standard servos. These pack quite a bit of power, and prove to be pretty good for standard servo applications. We're sorry to say that the RM1 is no-more. The RM1 is dead; long live the RM1. (I never understood that phrase...) All hail the RM1a! […]

Wednesday Cool Links: Clocks, Cloudscape...

You know, sometimes it is hard to find a proper tone of voice to write these introductions. So how about I express what I wanted through some interpretive dance? *flails extremities randomly. That would do it, right? Being all multidisciplinary-like, merging art (of flailing) with technology (of flailing), just like our today's links: Twenty two […]

Project Monday: Musical Gears

Sometimes we get the opportunity to help out select people who are developing projects for a good cause. One of those things dear to our hearts is inspiring children with science and electronics. So when John Porter came to us looking for a hand to make a musical gear project as part of an exhibit […]
