The Atmel ATMega8L is part of our Sumovore Atmel Brainboard, and it's simply a really solid microcontroller with an excellent (free) open-source C++ programming environment. Of course, you won't see us running a solaroller with one of these, but this microcontroller is finding uses at Solarbotics.
