New today is the Grove series from SeeedStudio. What makes Grove different is that is very modular, making quick-prototyping quite rapid. Usually this is an expensive feature. The rule of thumb is "Price, Speed, Quality - pick any two", but Seeed has made the 3 curves match just right. Not only are they a good value, they're well built and really do make prototyping quite quick.
Each of the modules serves one function and plugs into the Arduino-compatible Base Shield (Raspberry Pi shield on the way!) to make prototyping and testing your ideas super easy. We are adding more to the category soon. Here are the first three items:
Grove Base Shield $14.95 The Grove Base Shield is an amazingly easy way to connect your Arduino to sensors, displays, and actuators. |
|
Grove - I2C Color Sensor $24.90 I2C Color Sensor based on the TCS3414CS. |
|
Grove - LED Strip Driver (mono and RGB) $12.40 Use Grove to simplify your project, and in this case, to add LED strip lights. Drives both mono-colour and RGB styles, up to 3A per channel. |

HELLO EVERYONE, AND WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S EDITION OF STUFF THAT'S NEW. But before we get started, how about some light-hearted entertainment, yes? You know how I said we'd have new and exciting stuff to show off this week? That isn't quite the case. It's just been one of those weeks, and we don't have anything ready to go for you. But I can say this - we'll be opening up pre-orders for our brand spankin' new Oomlout […]
We were pleased to see the Kickstarter for Ringo, the Photopopper-ish but much smarter version of our own ~17 year old design robot kit. The video showcases some pretty cool behaviors, and is easily one of those projects where we think "Jee, why didn't we do that?"
