Friday New Product: Grove Stuff

Solar botics
January 23, 2015

New today is the Grove series from SeeedStudio. What makes Grove different is that is very modular, making quick-prototyping quite rapid. Usually this is an expensive feature. The rule of thumb is "Price, Speed, Quality - pick any two", but Seeed has made the 3 curves match just right. Not only are they a good value, they're well built and really do make prototyping quite quick.

Each of the modules serves one function and plugs into the Arduino-compatible Base Shield (Raspberry Pi shield on the way!) to make prototyping and testing your ideas super easy. We are adding more to the category soon. Here are the first three items:

Grove Base Shield
$14.95
The Grove Base Shield is an amazingly easy way to connect your Arduino to sensors, displays, and actuators.
Grove - I2C Color Sensor
$24.90

I2C Color Sensor based on the TCS3414CS.
Grove - LED Strip Driver (mono and RGB)
$12.40
Use Grove to simplify your project, and in this case, to add LED strip lights. Drives both mono-colour and RGB styles, up to 3A per channel.

SB Freeduino and Ultimate bundles

What's new from the v2.2? Not too much - we've cleaned and tidied up the overlay, incorporated some new Uno-style annotations on […]

Mark Tilden's 600 foot workbench

Well, it's more like a workbench 600 feet in the air. In his apartment. In Hong Kong. Nice view... Dig around the large image to see what cool stuff you can pick out. Gareth @ Make Magazine (where it was first posted last week) already found a "teacup Stirling Engine" at 10 o'clock (near the […]
