Congratulations go out to Dave and Cheryl for the birth of their new baby, Dason. Dason was born September 11, 2002 at 4:16 AM weighing in at 9 pounds 14 ounces.
Well, the last batch of Escap gearmotors went very fast. Let's hope this batch lasts a bit longer!
Unlike the last set, this set has a higher reduction ratio of 663:1 instead of 362:1. This means it starts turning 0.46V (!) drawing only 3.3mA (!!)
It's a 3V rated motor, but our tests show that they spin quite nicely at 5V, drawing 4.2mA free (!!!) at 22rpm. Don't know what the stall current draw is, as we're scared to strip these delicate gears, but it's greater than 150mA. Check them out!

Monday October 10th is Canadian Thanksgiving and Solarbotics will be closed so all our employees can spend the day with their families. We will be open on Tuesday October 11th at 9:00am MST and all will be business as usual again. Happy Thanksgiving folks!
We've had a great email come in from "Team Wazio", who are using our GM19 gear motors in their ant/fairyweight battlebots. Neat construction details - worth a look-see! (Yes, we know they're using the RW2 wheels and we're sold out, but we're taking care of that...)
We just received a huge order of our GM4 Clear Servos, so they are now available to order again! Read More...
