BlinkM, LilyPad, SparkFun

A SparkFun PCB, three BlinkM LEDs, three LilyPads and a PICAXE USB Programmer walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and asks, "What is this, a newspost?" The answer to that question would be YES! Chekkit oot:BlinkM Smart LED

Those are all pretty neat in their own way, but the BlinkM units deserve some special attention. They consist of three LEDs (RGB), that combine to make a wide array of colours. We've used them in a variety of projects so far (did see us at Maker Faire? We were using these guys in our lamp posts), and the results are absolutely fantastic. They're so fantastic that we even made a quick little video for it:

Good news! We just got in a big ol' shipment of Getting Started with Arduino, so not only is the book back online but all of our Arduino Bundles are now available! Huzzah!

And that does it for another week at Solarbotics. Remember, you filthy bilge rats: Tomorrow, September 19th, is Talk Like a Pirate Day, so don't forget to let out your inner scurvy sea dog!

Original Robosapien Prototype

Well, we're all back from Maker Faire, feelin' pretty groggy but fairly alive (or, perhaps more accurately, undead - something about being in a zombie-like state sounds about right). So to break the recent drought of news posts, we've dug out a treat from the deeper regions of the Solarbotics server archives. This is some […]

May issue of Discover Magazine

Mr. Tilden informs me that his experiments with 40 B.I.O.Bugs in the desert of Whitesands, New Mexico will be detailed in the May issue of Discover Magazine. I've seen some of his personal pics of the experiment, and it is indeed impressive photography. Keep an eye out for this issue!
