Want some 12V LED lighting for your home or camper? The light emitted from this string closely resembles cool white fluorescent lighting and is a sharp and more focused compared to others of it's kind. Fair warning: probably not a good idea to stare directly into the light!
On SALE! Why? We're not convinced at the chemistry of the epoxy used on these strips. Even in cool, dark storage, they are coming out of the bag a bit stinky and and a touch yellow in appearance. Fully functional, mind you, but ...smyellowy (see what I did there?). SO, for anybody who's putting them in an outdoor location, or is patient enough to strip off the epoxy layer (it can be done), here's a great deal on illumination LED strips!
These LED strips contain 60 white LEDs per meter. The strips have a self-adhesive backing that you can use to stick the strip to cabinets, enclosures or the dash in your car (probably not recommended, check local laws). They include current limiting resistors, so just add 12 volts and you're good to go. We've tested this strip over 12V and while they do draw a bit more current and get a little hotter they do okay. So using around 13VDC is fine but try not to get up around the 19VDC mark as the epoxy coating on the first meter tends to like to start smoking.
Oh, and did we mention they are waterproof? They are IP65 rated which means they can handle a pretty good soaking of water. Officially the IP65 rating is described as the following: Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction.
For your convenience, we carry a 12V5A supply to power this string.
Here are our the results of the tests we did with this strip with a Phidgets precision light sensor (distance of 10" away, 46 lux of ambient light)measuring lux and a variable power supply measuring current as the voltage varied:
|Current (A) (5m)
Please Note: We don't recommend going higher than 13V with these strips as the current draw is pretty high and we don't offer a power supply that can deliver more than 5Amps.
They come in 5 meter reels and are sold by the meter! If you buy 5m at a time, you'll get full reels. If you buy less than 5m, you'll get a single strip, but it will be a cut piece from a reel which may or may not have a connector on it.
