The 74HC240 octal (8 channel) inverting buffer has lower output drive current than the AC version, and is very similar to the HCT version except in that it switches at very close to 1/2 Vcc (half input voltage).

The 74HC240 family of octal buffers is very similar to the HCT version in most regards, but the switching threshold is close to half of the chip supply voltage.

The 74HC240 is used most often with the series of "Power Smart Head" BEAM projects by Wilf Rigter.
