The MaxSonar-EZ0 is a very tight-packaged, high-sensitivity single-element sonar module. Much like the very popular EZ1 module, the EZ0 offers higher sensitivity and slightly different coverage pattern

Description [Hide]

The MaxSonar-EZ0 is very similar to the very popular EZ1 , which is one of the smallest, most efficient, sonar (ultrasonic) ranging systems available. The MaxSonar-EZ0 offers higher sensitivity and therefore a greater coverage pattern making it much more sensitive to smaller objects. It has a detection range of over 5' seeing a 1/8" diameter rod! The general detection specification is up to 254-inches (6.45 meters / 21.1 ft.), reporting back in 1" increments!

The interface output formats included are pulse width output, analog voltage output, and serial output (TTL).

For further comparisons between the various sonar sensors MaxBotix has, check out their comparison chart.

  • Small size! Only 0.870" x 0.785" x 0.645", and 4.3 grams
  • Very usable range of up to 254 inches (6.45 meters / 21.1 ft.)
  • Single 5V supply with just 2mA typical current draw!
  • Readings can occur up to every 50 ms, (20-Hz rate)
  • Free run operation can continually measure and output range information
  • Triggered operation provides the range reading as desired
  • All interfaces are active simultaneously
    • TTL Serial (0-5V) @ 9600 Baud, 8N1
    • Analog output: (Vcc/512) / inch (10 mV/inch when input voltage Vcc = 5 V)
    • Pulse width (147 uS/inch)
  • Learns ringdown pattern when commanded to start ranging
  • Designed for protected indoor environments
  • Sensor operates at 42KHz
  • High output 10V PP square wave sensor drive
