The ‘Instant Robot Shield’ is designed to enable you to rapidly create a robot based upon a PICAXE Shield Base or Arduino microcontroller. Simply push the shield onto your controller, connect your motors, sensors and servos and you can have a working robot within just a few minutes!

You've heard of instant noodles and other instant products that you just add water too.....yeah this shield is not that kind of product. The essence of life for this electronic board is battery juice rather than orange juice.

Brought to you by Let's Make Robots & PICAXE, the Instant Robot shield comes as a semi-kit with all the components soldered on the board except for the male headers that connect to the board below, which are included but not installed. It comes in the common Arduino-compatible shield form factor and can be interfacted to any micrcocontroller sharing the same shape.

This shield gives you bi-directional control over 2 DC motors, and has breakouts for common 3-pin analog sensors (S.A0 to S.A5) and servos (S.0 to S.7). 10Kohm Pull-down resistors are jumper selectable and interface to all the Analog pins. Pins S8 to S11 are the input control lines for the motors. Each motor has a control pin and an enable/PWM pin. A nice additional feature is that The S.12 and S.13 control the 500mA open collector outputs BUFF12 and BUFF13 which have terminal block interfaces.

Note: Please keep in mind that you'll have to peel off the green solder mask on the bottom of the board to be able to solder to the outer headers.
