The Parallax SX microcontroller line has reached production EOL. The owner of the SX design (www.ubicom.com) has given Parallax final notice that we are to place a lifetime buy of wafers. We recognize this announcement will be difficult for customers who have designed the SX into their products. We share your disappointment.


Need a way to play with the Parallax SX48? The SX48 is a nice, tidy solution to using the surface mount SX48 easily. It offers a heckovalot more speed than the BS2SX, but it requires a bit more effort to use. The SX series of microcontrollers are the world's fastest series of 8-bit microcontrollers!

It Features:

  • Surface-mount SX48
  • LM2940 voltage regulator - input power supply of 6-9 VDC provides up to 1 Amp
  • SX-Key programming port with TTL oscillator mechanical interlock prevents both from being used at the same (which damages the SX-Key and TTL oscillator)
  • Three-position power switch (off, logic power, power to logic and servo ports)
  • Clock configurations supported with additional components sold by Parallax: TTL oscillator (DIP-8 package); ceramic resonator (SIP3 package); Crystal (HC/49 package)
  • Smart prototype holes for servo headers, DIP and SOIC8 components

Note: This product requires the SX-Key Programming Tool

As it uses a regular solder-on perfboard for prototyping, you might want to attach a small breadboard to the prototyping surface for less-than-permanent experiments!
