DESCRIPTION

Too often we find ourselves trying to find a line. Such is the way of having a robotics company that builds line-following robots among other things. These sensors are really convenient in that they're ready to go, presoldered to a nice 3-pin header.

The 17092 is a reflective sensor that also includes an iR emitter and phototransistor in a package which has the added advantage of blocking visible light. This small package is a great addition to line followers, or edge detecting applications. This product is famous for its uses in coin acceptors, and many other higher speed applications. This unit comes with a cable attached for quick assembly. 3-1/4" long cable, and connects to standard 3 pin header.

Note: There is no current-limiting resistor on the power lead that attaches to the IR LED. At 5V, use a 82ohm 1/2W resistor for maximum power. 220ohms 1/4W works great for a more typical 20mA emitter current.

Specifications:

  • Temperature Range: -40C to +85C
  • Sensor dimensions: 7 x 7 x 6mm (0.28 x 0.28 x 0.24")
  • 0 to 5mm Operating range
  • 1mA typical output current
  • Emitter wavelength: 950 nm
  • 1.25V Emitter Vfwd @ 50mA
  • Daylight blocking filter
  • Lead (Pb)-free soldering released
